History
The History major focuses on the study of people and events of the past to better understand and meet the challenges of the future. You will study a wide range of eras and regions with expert faculty. The major will prepare you to solve important 21st century problems with skills in research and analysis, communication, digital and media literacy, and historical and intercultural understanding. Widely recognized for promoting undergraduate research, our department publishes The Virginia Tech Undergraduate Historical Review, and hosts an award-winning Phi Alpha Theta/History Club chapter that provides opportunities for networking and professional development. History graduates have careers in the technology sector, law, business, non-profit management and administration, healthcare, media and communication, information management, criminal justice, and education.
