Russian
The Russian major and minor focuses on the history, culture, politics and language of one of the world’s largest countries. Language instruction is provided from introductory to advanced levels, and students complete courses in literature and culture. Our graduates go on to top graduate programs and pursue careers in national security, international relations, education and translation.
The program offers semester and summer opportunities to study in Daugavpils, Latvia as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The Russian program offers numerous scholarship opportunities through Project Global Officer, for the intensive study abroad program in Latvia, and is one of only eight universities in the US to offer the Russian Language Flagship. The Russian Flagship provides opportunities for students to achieve professional level proficiency in Russian through intensive courses, study abroad and cocurricular activities. Flagship students enroll in specially designed courses and programs of study which allow them to simultaneously pursue diverse academic interests. The completion of the program culminates with the capstone year abroad in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
