Chemical Engineering
All students wishing to study this major should apply to General Engineering.
Chemical engineers use the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and economics to design and operate process for the conversion of chemicals, raw materials, and energy into useful forms and products. Students complete a minimum of 16 credit hours in advanced chemistry, including organic chemistry plus lab and physical chemistry plus lab. Several elective focus areas are offered by the department, including polymers, biomedical, and chemical distribution and marketing. Common minors for chemical engineering students include chemistry, mathematics, green engineering, biomedical engineering and microelectronics engineering.
