VCCS Guaranteed Admission Agreements

How Does Guaranteed Admission Work?

Virginia Tech maintains several agreements with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) which offer a guaranteed route to admission to students completing transferable associate degrees. There are also additional agreements for students outside of the VCCS or for special programs at certain VCCS sites. The most commonly followed agreements are included and detailed below. Note that all applicants, including those who believe they may qualify for guaranteed admission under any agreement, will apply in the standard transfer application process and must meet all associated deadlines. More information on this process is found on the Transfer Application Checklist. Admission to Virginia Tech is major-specific, and applicants are advised to make sure their associate degree pathway aligns with or includes at a minimum the “Required” prerequisite coursework for their intended program of study, as outlined on the Admissions Transfer Roadmaps. Transfers are no longer admitted to undecided or general programs, and if an applicant does not meet the minimum requirements for admission to the major indicated on the application, they will not be admitted to the university. Final eligibility for guaranteed admission is determined during the application review process.
